Are you a fan of the fried apples that are served at all of the legendary Cracker Barrel restaurants? Then look no further because you are going to want this recipe for Southern Fried Apples!
During the cooler months of autumn, I love to break out all of my favorite fall recipes, and my recipe for southern fried apples is certainly no exception. Southern fried apples can be enjoyed on their own, or used as a filling for an apple pie.
My favorite way to serve fried apples is with grilled pork chops and a side of roasted brussels sprouts. The combination of sweet fried apples along with the salty and savory pork is so delicious.
There are lots of different varieties of apples and any will work with this recipe. My personal favorite is the honeycrisp apple! The honeycrisp apple’s name says it all. It’s pleasantly crisp, sweet and juicy, and subtly tart.
Experiment with this recipe using your favorite apple and see how it turns out. You may be pleasantly surprised to taste how each type of apple can change the whole flavor of the recipe.
